“Wishes We Made in the Dark” Ignites FilmOne Fest

I’m over the moon to share some exciting news: my short film, Wishes We Made in the Dark, has been officially accepted into the 2016 FilmOne Fest! Seeing this project find its place on a festival screen is both surreal and deeply fulfilling, especially knowing how much heart went into its creation.

Wishes We Made in the Dark is a piece inspired those quiet, vulnerable moments in relationships that often go unspoken. The film takes place in a single bedroom over the course of one night, where a married couple lies awake in silence. Each is consumed by their own fears, doubts, and desires, but neither finds the words—or perhaps the courage—to bridge the growing emotional gap between them.

At its core, this story is about the ways we can feel isolated even when we’re physically close to someone we love. It’s about the weight of unspoken words and how the intimacy of marriage can sometimes be a barrier instead of a bridge.

Filming this project was an exercise in minimalism and emotional nuance. With a single location and two actors, every detail—lighting, body language, even the silence—had to carry weight. The aim was to create a space where the audience could feel the tension, the love, and the aching vulnerability of these two people.

Being accepted into the FilmOne Fest is an honor, especially considering how many incredible films are showcased each year. The festival’s dedication to highlighting authentic and unique storytelling makes this moment even more meaningful.
